The Geography curriculum at Key Stage 3 has a number of objectives

In each Year Group these objectives will be delivered through a variety of topics

Year 9

Year 10

Topic 1            European Union

Topic 2            Earthquakes

Topic 3            Climate of the British Isles

Topic 4            How does it rain?

Topic 5            Depressions

Key Stage 4

In GCSE Geography the CCEA syllabus is followed. Geography is a unitised subject which means pupils have the opportunity to sit one examination module in Year 11 and in Year 12 we complete controlled assessment with another examination unit.

 

Unit 1          Understanding of our Natural World

Unit 2          Living in our World

Unit 3          Controlled Assessment

 

Method of Assessment

  1. 2 written examinations      

Paper I (completed in June - Yr 11)     = 37.5%

            Paper II(completed in June - Yr 12)     = 37.5%

 

  1. Controlled Assessment= 25%

A level

Progression from GCSE Geography leads to to A-level Geography, Environmental Technology and Applied Science.  In addition, it provides a basis for those seeking employment in a wide range of jobs within management, administration, marketing and finance.
